Delray Beach Geoff Braboy June 15, 2026
From June through August 26, the City of Delray Beach is offering free parking on Wednesdays in select City-owned garages and lots. This summer program gives both locals and visitors an easy reason to spend more time enjoying Downtown Delray Beach, whether that means grabbing dinner on Atlantic Avenue, shopping at local boutiques, heading to the beach, or supporting one of the many restaurants and small businesses that make Delray so special.
However, only City-Owned garages and lots are eligible for this free parking. The lots that are included are Old School Square, Federspiel, and IPIC garages, and the Roy M. Simon, Village, Gladiola, Veterans Park, and Banker’s Row lots.
It is important to note that this does not apply to on street parking or privately owned parking lots. Anyone planning to take advantage of the free parking should make sure they are parking in one of the approved City-owned locations.
Another Improvement for Delray Beach residents is a 50 cent per hour discount on metered parking when using the Park Mobile App. Just bring your vehicle registration and your ID to the Parking Office and register in person for the discount. Your car must be registered in Delray Beach to be eligible for this discount.
For residents who spend time downtown regularly, this is a helpful saving and another small improvement that can make daily life in Delray Beach more convenient.
Parking has always been an important part of the downtown experience, especially during the summer months when South Florida tends to slow down. By making it easier and more affordable to visit Downtown Delray Beach, the City is giving residents and visitors more reason to come out, support local restaurants, shop locally, and enjoy everything the area has to offer.
These types of improvements may also help bring more consistent traffic to local businesses during a season that is typically quieter. For restaurants, retail shops, coffee spots, salons, fitness studios, and other downtown businesses, easier access can make a real difference.
For those thinking about living near Atlantic Avenue, Pineapple Grove, Palm Trail, Lake Ida, the Seagate area, or anywhere close to Downtown Delray Beach, updates like this are part of what make the local lifestyle so appealing. Delray Beach is more than just a place to buy a home. It is a community built around walkability, beach access, local businesses, dining, events, and year-round activity.
Small changes like Free Parking Wednesdays are a reminder of why so many people are drawn to living in and around Downtown Delray Beach. The ability to park, walk, dine, shop, and enjoy the beach all within minutes is one of the reasons this area continues to be one of South Florida’s most desirable places to call home.
